This supervision CEU, led by Liz Elias of Empowered Behavior Collective and Taylor Sparks of Sparks Behavioral Services, examines how behavior analysts can integrate empathy and compassion into supervision while maintaining accountability and adherence to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board Ethics Code. Participants will learn to balance client welfare, supervisee competence, and professional standards by delivering compassionate, behaviorally specific feedback; setting clear boundaries and expectations; and using performance management strategies to prevent burnout and skill deficits. Through applied supervision scenarios, the course highlights how unstructured empathy can inadvertently reduce performance or ethical adherence, and instead teaches values-based supervision, self-awareness, and collaborative problem-solving as tools for shaping professional and soft skills. Grounded in behavior analytic principles, this training reframes empathy and compassion in contingency-based terms and equips supervisors to model ethical, resilient, and clinically competent practice for the next generation of behavior analysts.
